Data collected and purposes

Traffic measurement

The website tracks visits without using cookies and without storing your IP address. For each page viewed, it records the page address, the website you came from, any campaign parameters (UTM), the device type, the browser, the operating system, the language, the time spent on the page and the proportion of the page viewed, as well as certain clicks (outgoing links, purchase button). A visitor is represented by a fingerprint calculated from the IP address and browser, combined with a secret key that changes every day: this allows us to count the number of visitors in a given day, not to recognise you from one day to the next. This data is used solely to determine what is being read; it is neither sold nor shared.

Legal basis: legitimate interest. Retention period: up to 25 months.

Searches

Search terms entered on the site are recorded along with the number of results, without any identifying information, to find out what readers are searching for.

Comments

First name (compulsory), surname and email address (optional), comment text. The first name, surname and comment text are published after moderation; the email address is never published. Legal basis: your consent, by submitting the comment. Retention period: for as long as the comment remains online.

The newsletter

Email address, first name and surname (optional), date of subscription and subscription page. Legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link included in every email; your email address will then never be used again.

Purchase of a PDF sample

When the purchase is processed: email address (to send you the file), identity and transaction reference provided by PayPal. Legal basis: performance of the contract; retention period: 10 years for accounting records.

Recipients and data processors

• OVH (France) — hosting of the website, database and files.
• Twilio SendGrid (United States) — sending of emails. Transfer governed by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and the Data Privacy Framework.
• PayPal (Luxembourg) — payment, once the purchase is processed.

Cookies

The website does not set any audience measurement or advertising cookies. A technical session cookie is used solely to secure forms (protection against tampering with requests) and for the administration area; it is exempt from the requirement for consent. Fonts are provided by Google Fonts.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and transfer your data. Please write to proustagram@gmail.com. As audience measurement data does not allow you to be identified, it cannot be linked to you.
