Translated from French.
The “Bulletin Marcel Proust” 🤵🏻♂️ is an annual publication of the Société des Amis de Marcel Proust @amisdeproust. This association was founded in 1947 and the bulletin has appeared in various formats since 1950. Back issues 📓 are available via the association’s website, or directly at @gallicabnf. The B.M.P. has published a large number of texts that have been significant in Proustian studies. 👌🏻✨
Judging by issues 73 and 74, which I have before me, it is a very fine publication of around 300 pages, sumptuously laid out and printed, in which Proust’s ‘happy few’ can discover, time and again, previously unpublished material, articles, reviews and information about the life of the association. 🗞️🗄️📇
The editorial board includes some of the leading figures in Proustian publishing: William C. Carter, Elyane Dezon-Jones, Nathalie Mauriac Dyer, Jean-Marc Quaranta @jeanmarc.quaranta, Nicolas Ragonneau @nicolasragonneau and Isabelle Serça. The association’s current president is Jérôme Bastianelli @jbastianelli and its vice-president is Jean-Yves Tadié. The board of directors includes other distinguished figures, amongst whom is Antoine Compagnon @enoitan of the Académie française @academie.fr. 🏛️🙌🏻
A few months ago, I was asked to write an article 😨 for issue 75, which is due to be published this autumn. This article will focus on the relationship between Jacques Rivière and Marcel Proust 🤵🏻♂️📚🤵🏻♂️. And as I’m currently in the middle of writing this article, I thought I’d take a short break to explain why I’ve been posting a little less frequently on @proustagram over the past few weeks. 🖋️
I hope you’ll have the chance to read this article, as there are currently over 9,500 subscribers here, and I’ve been having some fascinating written exchanges 💌📬 with quite a few of you. This ‘print’ edition will also be my way of thanking you. 🫶🏻
